Nuclear Medicine:

Nuclear Medicine is a branch of medical science that, through the use of gamma-emitting radioisotopes in the form of various radiopharmaceuticals, is capable of assessing the function of different organs or detecting cancerous foci at the cellular and molecular level. For example, thyroid, cardiac, and renal scans are dedicated to evaluating organ function, while in oncology, the 99m-Tc-PSMA scan is specific to prostate cancer, the 99m-Tc-Octreotate scan targets neuroendocrine tumors, and the 99m-Tc-FAPI scan is used for a wide range of cancers with activated fibroblasts. Sentinel lymph node detection (Lymphoscintigraphy scan) and infection imaging around joint prostheses (99m-Tc-UBI9 scan) are also among the applications of nuclear imaging.

Beyond the diagnostic applications mentioned, nuclear medicine plays an expanding role in targeted therapy using beta- and alpha-emitting radioisotopes. These include treatments such as 177-Lu-PSMA for prostate cancer and 177-Lu-Octreotide for neuroendocrine tumors.

Siemens Gamma Camera

It is one of the latest state-of-the-art models in the world for nuclear medicine imaging, currently available in Iran. It has been purchased by Mashhad cancer charity and is now ready for operation.

Siemens Symbia Intevo

Spect_CT

Hybrid SPECT/CT imaging enables the fusion of tomographic images obtained through nuclear medicine techniques with structural tomographic images acquired via CT scan. The resulting images, which can be displayed in three dimensions, offer higher spatial resolution and provide more precise visualization of functional-anatomical details.
